Expertly Guided Catfishing Holidays on Spain’s River Ebro
Welcome to Ebro Catfishing – guided catfishing holidays & day trips on Spain’s famous river Ebro!
We offer tailor made catfishing tours for small parties on the unspoilt lower reaches of the river Ebro.
The Lower Ebro – A Prolific and Unspoilt Venue
This is quite unlike the catfishing experience you may have seen on the TV shows. The lower reaches of this mighty river provide the perfect location to fish for catfish. Unlike some of the heavily pressurized upstream locations which are lined with anglers, we are regularly able to drift by boat for a full day in catfish infested water without seeing another angler. This is proper predator fishing, up close and personal, using a mobile approach. You will not be sat behind a line of rods waiting for your ‘turn’, and there are no hidden extra costs for ‘tons’ of halibut pellet.
Wels Catfish – Europe’s Largest Freshwater Fish!
The catfish is Europe’s largest freshwater fish, capable of achieving sizes in excess of 300lb. These supreme predators have rapidly populated the Ebro since their introduction just over 40 years ago.. The catfish fight like nothing you have ever hooked in fresh water before. Initial runs can be up to 100 yards, and the cats have stamina too, with battles lasting up to 45 minutes. In the lower Ebro the catfish have currently been captured to weights around 220lb – but bigger ones are lurking out there in this vast expense of water!
Experienced, Professional Guidance
Ebro Catfishing was founded back in 2000, and with 20 years of guiding experience behind us we know every inch of this section of river. Whatever the river conditions that greet you on your arrival, our guides will have a plan based on years of knowledge in order to get a result for you and your group. We can cater for anglers of all levels of experience to help guide you to a dream capture!
Our Boat & Equipment:
You’ll be fishing from a fully customised boat that has been modified for locating, hooking and landing very large catfish. This boat is an extremely stable 18 foot Carolina Skiff fitted with a 60HP Honda 4-stroke outboard motor for performance and reliability.
Our boat is also fitted with a top of the range Garmin echo sounder and a Minn Kota electric trolling motor for boat positioning whilst drifting. The boat will comfortably accommodate the guide and up to 3 anglers.
We use specialist catfishing rods combined with Penn Multiplier / Shimano baitrunner reels depending on the method employed on the day. All our equipment has been tried and tested over 20 full seasons of guided fishing and will not let you down. Power pro braid and Owner hooks complete the load out.
A typical day on the river will start in the late morning and we will fish on well into the evening, the total duration on the river being around 8 hours. Our service is fully guided and we are with you all day offering advice and tips.
