The first sessions of the 2014 catfishing season saw the Ebro in good conditions, with low water and mullet present and feeding on the pipes.
The action over a two day stint has been relatively slow, with a couple of positive enquiries and a couple of actual takes. The first fish we hooked was lost, with the hook hold giving way just a few seconds into the fight. We had to wait quite some time for another chance, but it came late on the second day fishing down by the islands. Fortunately this time we got a good hookhold and the result was the first treble figure fish of the new year, a lean fish of 124lb which fell to the rod of Keith Dentith.
