A superb opening session for the 2009 season with 2 100lb cats falling to the rod of regular customer Ricky Smith. The river is currently running high and coloured with cold water conditions (around 8.5 degrees celsius,) but the cats are still prepared to accept live baits fished tight in the margins out of the main current. Ricky’s first cat of the day was an outstanding 107 beast, but he soon topped this with an Ebro monster of 147lbs. Both fish fell to large mullet fished close to the bottom and put up a great tussle in the extra flow. These are the coldest water temperature’s we have caught cats in to date!
